Photo Friday: Magical Mosaics

This is an odd feeling. I’m suddenly operating sans camera (a friend needed to borrow it unexpectedly) and seeing as this could have a decidedly negative effect on Photo Friday, I decided to peruse the photo archives and pull out a few old favorites to share with you!

For today’s post I dug up a mosaic. I’ve always been drawn to mosaics. The very concept—crafting plain, broken shards of inconsequential nothingness into beautiful, lasting patterns and intriguing images which appear abstract upon close examination, but form full pictures from afar—is so lovely. Simple, yet complex. Whimsical, but deep.

This particular mosaic, which I saw on a wall in Hong Kong eight or nine years ago, speaks to my soul. I hope it has something to say to yours, as well!
