Photo Friday: Little Garden Surprises

I didn’t think there was anything worth photographing in the garden this week. None of the flashy flowers are up yet, and most of the plants are just struggling to get established and aren’t exactly begging for a photo shoot. But I took advantage of this week’s only sunny day and strolled around the backyard with my camera anyway, just in case something happened to catch my eye, and I sure am glad I did! Beauty glimmered in all sorts of unexpected places.

Dave’s bonsai tree just happened to be blooming the most adorable little white blossoms that I ever did see! I had no idea that it even flowered…

I acquainted myself with a cluster of mushrooms that looks like it’s straight out of fairy land…

I noticed how elegant coral bell leaves actually are…

And the forget-me-nots, usually one of my least photogenic flowers, sparkled as the sun set behind them through the pretty picket fence.

Garden bliss.

Friday posts for 2015 gave me trouble because I had two different ideas for them! Photo Friday? Food Friday? Photo Friday? Food Friday? I couldn’t decide!

I did Photo Friday last year and loved the process of photo-documenting random little bits of life as seen throughout the week…

But Food Friday is also appealing. Food is tasty and beautiful and so much fun to make, photograph and eat! Besides, Dave and I already dubbed 2015 as The Year of the Soup Bowl, so Food Friday would be a wonderful way to keep track of our soup, stew, chili, and curry journey…

I hate decisions! But after ample deliberation, I decided to divide the Fridays between the two options and alternate between Food Friday and Photo Friday! Thoughts? Ideas? Do you have a preference? Anything you’d like to see more or less of on the blog? Feel free to leave a comment!
