What A Wonderful Word Wednesday: Edentulous

What A Wonderful Word Wednesday!

Edentulous (adj): Toothless

Putting that wonderful word to work!

Robert reached into the bag beside him and pulled out an apple, a shining orb with golden skin and a specking blush of red. It smelled heavenly. Just as he lifted it to his lips, he caught sight of an elderly gentleman in a worn coat and tattered hat hungrily eying the fruit in his hand. Although his own stomach rumbled noisily, Robert pushed the thoughts from his mind and turned to the old man.

“Would you like this apple, sir?” he kindly asked, offering fruit.

The man gave an edentulous grin. “Oh, no, my boy, it’s been years since I’ve been able to eat them. I never much cared for the idea of dentures. Now, if you have any appleSAUCE tucked away in that bag of yours, I’ll gladly accept!” He gave a humorous chuckle and his brown eyes sparkled.
